Choice Words of New Paltz served as the lead grant writers for the $10 million SUNY2020 grant awarded this week to SUNY New Paltz . The grant, announced by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo at the college on Tuesday, will fund the construction of a new 20,000 square foot Engineering Innovation Hub on the SUNY New Paltz campus, helping the university initiate a new advanced and mechanical engineering degree program.
A grant writing and public relations firm, Choice Words worked with an administrative and academic team from SUNY New Paltz late last year in developing the application to Round III of the SUNY2020 Challenge Grant program, a highly competitive capital funding program which annually funds a handful of transformative projects statewide. That team included University President Donald Christian, Dean of Engineering Daniel Freedman, Chief of Staff Shelly Wright, and Associate Vice President Catherine Hoselton.
“Steve Densmore of Choice Words handled the grant writing for SUNY New Paltz’s CFA and SUNY 2020 applications and we won both of them. In addition to crafting a very well-written proposal, he provides excellent advice on how to structure complex proposals related to economic development. Choice Words provides the whole package,” stated Daniel Freedman, Dean, School of Science and Engineering.
Choice Words’ Founder and President Steve Densmore said: “This is the second significant New York State grant that we have helped secure for SUNY New Paltz. We are grateful to President Christian and his talented team for giving Choice Words the opportunity to collaborate on this transformational project. This award will help the college continue its remarkable momentum in establishing the Hudson Valley as a center for 3D printing and other forms of advanced engineering while proving the region with much needed mechanical engineers.”
